Part two of this auction catalog, the auction held on October 12th and 13th of 1943. This contains many important letters from early American history and historical figures, including Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Benjamin Rush and others. From the estate of Alexander Biddle, an officer in the Union Army during the Civil War. Descendant of Clement Biddle, a Revolutionary War soldier, Alexander married the granddaughter of Benjamin Rush, a noted figure in colonial Pennsylvania history. GOOD condition. Large faint stain to the upper rear cover, with a few other minor stains and some soiling to the wraps. Uneven browning. Minor chipping and tearing along the extremities, a bit heavier to the corners, especially the upper rear corner. Interior clean and solid. Good .

Hollins, an American financier, banker and railroad magnate. His Wall Street firm failed in 1913 (Wikipedia). GOOD condition. Moderate darkening and offsetting along the extremities. Dark scuffs to the rear cover. Some soiling. Yapp edges of the wrappers bumped, with some creasing and minor tearing. Interior clean and solid. Good .
